Don’t Sleep on the Rancher

I often work with buyers who dismiss the ranch floor plan. You know the layout: a single story with a low profile; three bedrooms 1/1.5 bathrooms; attached garage; living/dining/kitchen on one end. The details are generally what is expected and there is often a lack of interesting features to excite folks in the home shopping process.

I cannot stress this enough…Don’t sleep on the rancher! Just because it is simple does not mean that it does not work.

Regardless of your stage of life, a rancher is likely to meet most of your needs. Plus, because of simplicity, these homes tend to be structurally sound and mechanically efficient. Our first home was a rancher. I still think back to how easy it was to maintain and how low our utility bills were at that house.

This is a great example: 302 Likens Street, Westernport, MD

It is easy to get lost in the vision of what you want your house to be, losing sight of what you need it to be. One of my favorite responsibilities for working with buyers is helping them complete an advanced buyer questionnaire. It gets us all on the same page and pinpoints our search criteria.

Let me help you.
